Shirley Ann Pierce
October 12, 1922 ~ November 27, 2018
Shirley Pierce, 96, passed away on November 27, 2018 from Lewey-Body Dementia. She was born in Burns, Oregon, the daughter of James T. and Lillian M. Krueger Richardson. After graduating from Burns Union High School, she attended Monmouth College (now Western Oregon University) at Monmouth, Oregon.
She married Jack F. Pierce in Boise, Idaho. They had been together for 65 years at his passing. Jack worked for the U.S. Forest Service and they lived in several states including Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Texas (military deployment), Colorado, California, and finally retiring in Arizona.
Shirley was involved in many organizations including the Lady Elks, Eastern Star, and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, holding local and state offices in all of them at one time or another. She also volunteered at the Roy Hospital (Heritage Park Care Center). Shirley loved to play bridge and pinochle as well as read a good book. After Jack retired they traveled throughout the states as well as going to Europe several times.
Shirley and Jack have 3 children, Jeanne, Ben (Sharla), and Jim (Roxanne). They have 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; grandson, Brian Andersen; and great-granddaughter, Makayla Pierce; as well as her parents and sister, Faye.
With all her accomplishments, Shirley was first and foremost a “mom.” She supported her husband and children. She was first on, she wiped our tears, cleaned our wounds, and bound us together as a family. To our Mom – “we love you.”
