Shirley LeRoy Ball

Shirley LeRoy Ball passed away on June 3, 2015 in Layton, Utah at the age of 101.

He was born November 13, 1913 in Kaysville, Utah to Thomas Slater and Ada Matilda Lundberg Ball.

Shirley married Doris Love on January 13, 1938; and the family was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

He graduated from Davis High School in 1932. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar for others.

He worked as a firefighter at Hill Air Force Base for 31 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter for 26 years for the Kaysville City Fire Department.

After retiring from HAFB, he kept busy doing electrical work, taking meticulous care of his yard and garden and traveling with his wife. But mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing stories about his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherryl Hart, son-in-law, Robert Baszczynski, granddaughters, Dana (Ward) Howes, Erin (Burt) McDonald, grandson, Tyler (Kari) Hart, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Love Ball, daughter, Diana Baszczynski, son-in-law, Ron Hart and granddaughter, Brandi Hart.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
