Shirley Wayment Barrow

Shirley Wayment Barrow, 89 passed away on April 23, 2013. Her greatest wish came true as she was reunited with her sweetheart, Kenneth. Shirley was born on July 30, 1923 in Warren, Utah to Albert Bullock and Alice Urry Wayment. She was the youngest of seven children.

She graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary.

Shirley married Kenneth William Barrow on December 23, 1942 in Glendale, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 23, 1943. Their union was blessed with five loving children, 32 grandchildren, and 64 great-grandchildren. She had been a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved being a homemaker, was a talented seamstress, and beautiful quilter. Each one of her children and grandchildren received one of her homemade quilts.

Mom was a hard worker. She filled in as secretary for the Teamsters Union, and worked seasonally at the Del Monte Cannery. She was actively involved in the community; served as an election judge, room mother in the PTA, and was a member of the Daughter''s of Utah Pioneers.

Mom was an avid sports fan; she enjoyed watching baseball and rarely missed a Utah Jazz basketball game. She coached Little League Baseball and girl''s church softball. She loved to golf with her husband and would often boast about being the only one in the family to score a hole in one. Mom and Dad often traveled with family and friends, enjoyed camping and were members of the Good Sam Club.

Shirley was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mom loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, had a strong testimony and shared it as often as possible. She served the church faithfully her entire life as a Primary, Young Women''s and Relief Society President, and in other various ward and stake callings. She served with her husband in the Florida Tallahassee Mission serving Cambodian refugees.

Shirley is survived by her three sons and two daughters, Gary Lynn (Marylee); Boyd W. (Judy); Glenn W. (Betty); Pamela (Steve) Richards; Denise (Brent) Rogers; sisters-in-law, Ruth Wayment and Susan Barrow; and brother-in-law, Floyd (Marvel) Barrow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

Shirley will be missed dearly by her family and friends. We will cherish our memories of her until we are all reunited.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the West Warren Ward Chapel, 856 North 5900 West, Warren. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
