Shirley Jaques Byrd passed away peacefully at home surrounded- by family on December 19, 2023.
She was born in Devils’ Slide Utah to Sylvia Hanney Jaques and Glen Willis Jaques, on November 10, 1939.
She later moved to the “Mountain Road” where she spent her childhood and attended school with her 3 sisters and many close cousins.
She married in 1955 and had 5 children. They were later divorced.
She met the love of her life Allen Byrd and they were married on July 20, 1968. Together they had 1 Daughter.
They lived and raised 6 kids together in Layton, Utah. They spent the last 23 years living in West Point, Utah and had recently celebrated their 55-year wedding anniversary. Together they enjoyed camping, celebrating all the holidays and spending time with their large family.
She was the best wife, mom, and grandma anyone could ask for. She was always very active in helping raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her death will leave a huge void in all of our lives, and she will be greatly missed by many.
Shirley is survived by her husband Allen Byrd of West Point, 6 kids Robyn (Rod)Carson Mesquite, Nevada Julie (Gary)Probasco Huntsville, Utah, Jeff Baker Layton, Utah, Cathy Passarelli, West Point, Utah Vicki (Todd) Denter Syracuse, Utah and Kimberly(Scott Soda)Byrd Clinton, Utah. 19 Grandchildren, 34 Great Grandchildren and 1 great, great Grandchild. 3 sisters Glenna, Ilene, and Barbara. Many special in- laws, Cousins, and Friends. Her loyal companion and best friend Toby her Dog.
Preceded in death by her Grand-Daughter Cassie Lynn Baker, her parents and her mother and Father-in-law Lowell and Clara Byrd.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at West Point City Cemetery. 80 North 4000 W. Friends may visit with family on Friday, December 22, 2023, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West.
