Shirley Carroll

Shirley May Carroll, 88, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Chancellor Gardens. She was born May 31, 1925 in Santa Elena, Entre Rios, Argentina to James Moffatt and Margaret Rowley Moffatt.

Shirley married Santiago Salvador Carroll (James/Diego) on May 5, 1948. She lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Brescia, Italy and then they settled in Kaysville, UT. She founded and ran a bilingual (Spanish/English) elementary boarding school in Tandil, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was a volunteer nurse during WW II.

She served an LDS mission in the Rosario Argentina with her husband and was always active in the Church. She served in many positions and especially enjoyed working with the young women in the camping program. She enjoyed cross-stitching, reading and teaching. She volunteered in the ESL program in Kaysville Elementary and taught Spanish classes in Autumn Glow. During her last years before she was diagnosed with Alzheimers she babysat for several families and came to love their children.

She is survived by her son Dionisio (Dennis) Carroll (Lilian); daughters Patsy Carroll Carlini (Mauricio) and Sandra Carroll; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Santiago (James), daughter Doreen, brother John Moffatt and sister Joyce Edwards.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N., Main. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
