Shirley Petersen Dunbar

June 10, 1928 ~ July 1, 2015

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on July 1, 2015.  Shirley was born on June 10, 1928 to Paul Franklin and Irene Hales Petersen.  Shirley grew up in Ogden, Utah.  In 1946 she graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State University.  During that time she worked at Mountain States Telephone as an Operator.

On August 26, 1949 she married Joseph Robb “Bob” Dunbar in Ogden, Utah.  Shirley was a member of the Ogden Golf and Country Club where she served as President of the Ladies Association.  You would see her playing bridge, bowling, and golfing in her spare time.  Her love of card and dice games was shared with her family at dinners and family vacations.  Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Bob Dunbar; her son, Scott (Marlene) Dunbar of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; her daughter, Diane (Mike) Clark of Roy, Utah; grandchildren, Adam (Erin) Clark, Steve (Sabrina) Clark, Kristy (Marcus) Montoya, Tami (Jason) Clark, Brett (Cody) Christensen, Brooke (Cody) Orgill, and 18 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack; and son, Brent.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Special thanks to Applegate Hospice and the staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living for their caring services.
