Shirley Rose Duncan
CLEARFIELD – Our loving mother, Shirley Rose Garrard Duncan, was surrounded by her children, when she passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 and reunited with her loving husband.
She was born September 11, 1930 in North Ogden, a daughter of William Leonard and Eva Margruite Larsen Garrard.
Shirley married James Richard Duncan on December 12, 1949 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. James preceded her in death in 2000.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in numerous callings. She loved genealogy and singing in the ward choir.
Shirley was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She loved playing the violin, organ and making quilts.
The family expresses special thanks to Manor Care Nursing Center, Hospice For Utah, Apple Tree and Country Gardens.
Surviving are her children, William Scott Duncan; RosaLee Duncan; Debbie (Kevin) Bird, five grandchildren, John Edwards, Shauntae Cluff, Tyler Bird, Justin Bird and Megan Bird; and six great-grandchildren, Avigail, Jeffery, Brie, Zena, James and Alex.
Also surviving are one sister, Olga Hersom, and her daughter-in-law, Dixie Duncan.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, husband, son James Richard Duncan Jr., granddaughter, Crystal Edwards, and brother, Wayne Garrard.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
