January 16, 1932 ~ March 19, 2014

Shirley Rae Jones passed away peacefully, at the age of 82, surrounded by loved ones, due to complications of a stroke on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.  Shirley was born to Harold and LaRetta Smith in Ogden, Utah in 1932. 

Shirley served her Country as an Army Staff Sergeant for 20 years, and adopted two daughters from Seoul Korea while in service.  After many years of traveling, she retired in Thatcher, UT.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed working on genealogy. 

Shirley led a full and rich life, and we will forever miss her quirky, unique personality, her impeccable memory, and her logical sense of humor.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Donna Sheehan; son-in-law Mike Stevenson (Kara deceased daughter); grandchildren, Tyler, Tia, Lindsay, Alex, and Emily; and great-grandchild, Sade.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Harold Chester Smith; mom, LaRetta Wakefield; and daughter, Kara Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Thatcher-Penrose 2nd Ward, 11475 West 10400 North.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary. 

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery at 3 p.m.
