Shirley Mae (Moore) Lamon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at her home on July 28, 2024, at the age of 89. She was a loving, devoted wife and a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Her love for and commitment to her family and the gospel of Jesus Christ, were hallmarks of her character.
Shirley was born on March 15,1935, in Ogden, Utah, to Wilford Moore and Dora (Anema) Moore. At the age of 16, she met Richard “Dick” Lamon, a handsome young soldier from Ohio. They were married on August 15,1952 and on January 29,2014 they were sealed in the Bountiful Temple. Together they have created a love story that their children will always cherish.
Shirley was the heart of our home and family. She was married for 72 years to her soulmate, Dick Lamon. Together they raised five children, Sharon (Rex) Hancock, RaNae (Von) Draheim, Nancy (Robert) Morris, and Mike Lamon. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelley Vastano and her grandson, Adam Mitchell. Shirley dearly loved her 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, she was always ready to spoil them all and give them lots of love.
Shirley was always cheerful, energetic, creative, organized and hardworking. Her passing in life leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her love of her family was unparalleled, and she often expressed this through the time she spent with them. The ability for her to make everyone feel cherished will sorely be missed but not forgotten.
Over the years, Shirley served enthusiastically in many capacities at church. Her dedicated service and noble example have had an enduring impact on her family, friends, and community.
