OGDEN a€" Shirley Rabe Lyells, 83, died Wednesday, September 3, 2008.

She was born May 10, 1925 in Ogden, a daughter of Fred Carl and Maude Stratford Rabe.

On November 22, 1946, Shirley married William Benjamin Lyells in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1984.

She was a lifelong resident of Ogden where she was raised and educated receiving her Associates Degree from Weber College. She lived a short time in Boise, Idaho, Bountiful and Logan, Utah.

Shirley was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served many years in Primary organizations and was a faithful Visiting Teacher.

In her early years, Shirley worked in her father''s photography studio, Rabe Studio.

She was a wonderful cook and homemaker and always remembered her grandchildren''s birthdays. She worked for the Ogden Z.C.M.I. and made many friends.

Shirley was a member of the D.U.P. Camp X for 50 plus years and served on the Weber County Board. She enjoyed camping, family get-togethers, bargain shopping and picnicking.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter, William R. (Sandy) Lyells, West Jordan; Gary R. (Kaylyn) Lyells, North Ogden; Janet L. (Curt) Checketts, Hyrum; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother and sister, Marvin S. (Jan) Rabe, Ogden; Marlene (Ted) Lundstrom, Farmington; and one sister-in-law, Helen Rabe, Ogden. She is also survived by many lifelong friends that meant so much to her.

Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, brother, Fred S. Rabe and sisters, Marilyn Rabe and Beverly Bennion.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
