Shirley Ann Brown Nelson

Shirley Ann Brown Nelson passed away at the age of 88 on Sunday, January 17, 2016 in Roy, Utah after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born February 26, 1927 in Riverdale, Utah, the youngest of three children and the only daughter of Arthur Preston and Francis Mary Ritter Brown.

On October 22, 1945, she married Louis “Lenzi” Nelson in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple. He passed away on May 15, 2015.

Shirley’s beauty, infectious personality and keen wit were envious to many. Her grace and style made her the consummate hostess. Shirley was an exceptional wife, mother, homemaker and friend. She was a lifelong resident of Roy, Utah.

She is survived by four sons: Scott Louis Nelson (Susan) Escalante, UT, Bruce Lenzi Nelson (Jill) Joelton, TN, Blake Arthur Nelson (Suzanne) Spokane, WA and Mark Brown Nelson (Tambra) Taylorsville, UT. Her legacy also includes eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Dellas Arthur Brown, Frank Preston Brown and granddaughter Mary Lynn Nelson.

A public viewing will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. A graveside/interment service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Roy City Cemetery on 5200 South 2300 West, Roy, UT.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to the medical staffs of Hospice4Utah and Peachtree Assisted Living Center who provided such incredible and compassionate care to Shirley through the years.
