OGDEN a€" Shirley Ione Neves, 71, passed away Friday, October 17, 2008, following a brief illness.

She was born December 4, 1936 in Logan, Utah, the daughter of Ellis Graham and Belva Winn Neves. The family moved to Ogden, Utah in 1942 to work in the defense plants during World War II. She grew up in Washington Terrace and attended Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High School in 1954. She also attended Weber Junior College.

Shirley worked for Amalgamated Sugar Company and Hill Air Force Base. She then moved to San Francisco, California and worked for Western Pacific Railroad. When Union Pacific Railroad bought Western Pacific, she was transferred to the general offices in St. Louis, Missouri where she lived until retiring and returning to Ogden two years ago.

Surviving is her brother, E. Larry (Evelyn) Neves, Farr West, Utah.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Gardens Assisted Living Center, the staff at Washington Terrace Health Services, and Jill and Marcos from IHC Hospice for the loving and tender care they gave Shirley during her stay at their facilities.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 21 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
