Shirley Joan Ruth-Tremonte 1934 ~2007

It is with great heartfelt sadness that the family announces their beloved Mother, Grandmother, and wife Shirley Joan Ruth-Tremonte has passed away due to heart complications at the age of 73. Mom viewed this unfortunate time (with a smile) as her opportunity to be re-united in heaven with her other two sons, Doug and Darryl Ruth, who preceded her in death.

Shirley was born on March 3, 1934 in Olean, New York; the daughter of Thelma Lucy and Arthur Edwin Rich.

Her religious faith, and deep belief and trust in God and his son Jesus Christ is what kept Mom happy, strong willed, and gave her a unique gift of love for everything and everyone. Playing piano since she was a child, Mom was the most amazing pianist that we all knew, and listening to her play was always completely captivating and will be missed dearly, and the song missed most of all is the one that she composed herself "Alpine Echos". Working until the very last day before her death as a traveling piano teacher, Joan''s students'' musical success (no matter what age) had been her life and devotion over the last 50 years.

Married on Oct. 3rd, 1986, her husband of 21 years, Tony Tremonte will miss the valuable time they spent together, the delicious meals she would prepare for them both, the selfless love and care she would provide during sickness, and the joy they would share together as husband and wife. Joan also loved and cherished each and every one of Tony''s children and grandchildren. As for her immediate family, there could be no more joy found in someone''s heart than that of what her grandchildren''s love (Dave Jr., Travis, Nichole, Jake, Jesi, Keslie, Bracken, Zayne, Connor, and Brynn) had placed there. Joan adored being with any or all of her grandchildren, and would frequently use them as excuses just to get the entire family together, which hadn''t happened often enough. She had always been best friends with her daughter-in-laws and treated them as though they were her own. Most of all, her sons Dave (wife Melody), Don (wife Kristie), Dwight (wife April), and Dwayne (wife Lori) will miss Mom more than life itself. The brightness she brought into each of our lives, the example of courage, the gift of love, the love of god, the love of family, and above all, the love of ourselves is just a grain of sand on the world''s beaches of how Mom had taught us, and had impacted our lives. We all know in our heart that she is now where she wanted to be, with her father in heaven, and having her unconditional loving arms wrapped around Doug and Darryl, providing a kiss on their cheek, and telling them, "Everything''s ok now, Mom''s home".

Mom, we will miss you much more than you want us to, but we all know that in time, you will have our hug and kiss waiting for each one of us with that ever so common warming smile on your pretty face. Mom, we love you! Your family... .
