Shirley Kay Garner Schmidt
July 25, 1947 ~ July 24, 2021
Shirley passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 from complications with heart failure. She was born July 25, 1947 in Ogden, Utah to Virgil and Bernice (Young) Garner.
During her time on earth, she loved spending time with her brothers and sisters and playing softball.
She married the love of her life Lowell Dwight Schmidt, he was / is her everything. They had three daughters, Katrina Lee Schmidt (decd), Muronica Jo Hoyt (Clint), Cheryl Lynn Christofferson (Adam); eight grandchildren, Erika Mclaws (Todd), Octavio Frias, Aspen Howell (decd), Bridgette Howell, Ryker Howell, Traceson Christofferson, Chaylynn Christofferson and Taelor Christofferson; and one great-grandchild, Oliver Mclaws.
She was very proud of her daughter’s and grandchildren’s talents and accomplishments. She was their biggest fan and was always there to watch and support them in everything they did.
She always looked at the positive and was very bubbly, she was very selfless and kind to all. She always put others needs before her own. She was a hard worker and wanted to give her daughters and grandchildren a life that she couldn't have.
She loved to go camping in the mountains. She loved to cook and was very good at it. She always made sure that there was enough food for everyone, and wouldn't let anyone go without. She always had food in case someone stopped by or we were going on a trip or anywhere. She spent time at the first part of her marriage as a military (ARMY) wife and enjoyed traveling to see her soul mate. They did almost everything together.
She enjoyed going four wheeling with the Mount Ogden four wheelers, hunting and to Mountain Man Rendezvous and would dress the part. She was always there to lend a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on. She often went without so others didn't have too. She loved holidays especially Christmas. Christmas time was always magical and filled her with joy. She would make a true believer out of anyone.
She graduated from Weber High School in 1966. The love of her life proposed to her on Christmas Eve 1965 and they were married June 1966 and the rest is history and have been together ever since.
