“Honey I’m Home” Shirley Lou Sevy Smith ROY – Shirley Lou Sevy Smith, 84, passed away on October 20, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 1, 1926 to Otho and Alberta Rhoda Blakeman Sevy in Ogden, Utah. Spent her childhood in Ogden and Panquich, Utah attending Weber High School. She met Wayne G. Smith the love of her life at the Berthana Roller Rink, they rolled together for over 58 years until Wayne’s death in 2001. They married on November 15, 1943 in Riverdale, Utah. They were blessed with six children, Patricia (James) Thorpe, Connie Kidwell, Wayne M. Smith, Susan Torres, Kent Smith and Terri (John) Park. After graduation from secretarial school, she worked as Secretary of Nursing for the Weber County Health Department retiring in 1989 after over 20 years. Shirley is survived by her 4 daughters and 2 sons, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved pet Chico. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her sister Mae and brother-in-law Darrel Gailey, and a granddaughter Elaine Marie. Shirley loved to quilt and made over 150 “Quillows” for friends and family that will always be treasured. She loved things that grow, especially flowers, and her beautiful yard was her pride and joy. She loved to travel with her husband Wayne and their “muddy buddy” Pete and wife Kay (deceased). One of her favorite trips was a trip to Cancun for her 50th wedding anniversary. She cherished her loving family and all the many good friends that she made over the years. Shirley will be laid to rest at her husband’s side at the Eden Mountain View Cemetery. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
