Shirley Ann (Mayer) Stimpson
August 9, 1932 ~ February 21, 2017
Shirley Ann (Mayer) Stimpson was born on August 9, 1932 to James and Alice Mayer in Sabetha, Kansas. After a long battle with breast cancer and the struggling effects of Dementia, she is now with the kind and gentle love of our Heavenly Father. Shirley’s early life was a difficult journey that made her a strong and confident woman.
Shirley married Jack Edward Stimpson in 1952. Unable to have children of their own, they adopted three beautiful children, Chris, Sheri Ann, and Cozette Suzette. In 1967, Shirley and her daughter, Sheri caught a wild mink in the front drain ditch of their Plain City home. This led to Jack and Shirley becoming the first mink ranchers in Plain City, Utah.
Shirley designed the most amazing western outfits! Bold and different her fashion sense and ideas were years beyond their time. Later on Shirley found herself facing the advanced stages of breast cancer. Once again, Shirley showed how strong and determined she could be. Unable to remove all of the cancer with a mastectomy, Shirley never gave in; surviving many years past the estimated few, she was given! Sadly the devastating effects of Dementia started. Shirley will be remembered as a strong woman who gave her children strength and confidence and an understanding of living life to its fullest. No more pain and anger Momma your journey is done. Heaven is waiting and now you can fly, be free Momma, be free.
Shirley is survived by her son, Chris; daughter, Sheri; sisters, Arlene Boyer and Beverly Delbucchia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; daughter, Cozette; father, James; mother, Alice; and sister, Joyce Constance.
