Shirley Edna Christensen Sundberg
Shirley Edna Christensen Sundberg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 1, 2012.
She was born May 9, 1924, to Glen and Elsie Reeves Christensen in Fairfield, Idaho. She was raised in Smoot, Wyoming, and graduated from Star Valley High School in 1942 and moved to Ogden, Utah shortly after.
Shirley married Herbert G. Sundberg July 7, 1944. He passed away May 29, 1971. Their vows were solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple September 29, 1990.
She worked at the Ogden Arsenal, Navy Supply Depot and retired from Hill Air Force Base in January 1982.
Shirley was a member of the LDS Church and had served in the ward library, the extraction program, as a visiting teacher and as a counselor in the ward Relief Society Presidency. She had also been a member of the Federal Women''s Club.
Some of her interests included ceramics, handwork, her yard, bowling, reading, golfing, watching the Atlanta Braves and Utah Jazz and spending time with her family.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Tamara (Lee) Dickemore, granddaughters, Peper Leigh Dickemore and Nicole (Jeremy) Palmer, two great-grandsons, Cooper and Easton Palmer and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and brother-in-law Gayle and Lowell Hill.
The family would like to thank the staff and her friends at Legacy House of Ogden for all the love and support they have given to our mom and grandma over the past 6 years.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
