Siagigi Eneliko Mataese, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devout follower of the Seventh Day Adventist faith, was born on March 3, 1957, in LBJ American Samoa and peacefully departed this life on February 25, 2025, just shy of his 68th birthday. A man grounded in faith and family, Siagigi was widely know for his unwavering dedication to his beliefs and his enduring love for those he held dear.
Siagigi’s early life was marked by a commitment to education and hard work. He attended Satala SDA Elementary before graduating from Fagaitua High School. Following his education, Siagigi embarked on a career as a welder, pouring his skill and passion into his craft. On July 15, 1983, he married the love of his life, Vaotupu Pulu, and together they traversed the beautiful journey of lifelong partnership built on mutual love and respect.
His industries spirit led him to serve as an assistant engineer on the Evelina Da Rosa fishing boat until his well-deserved retirement. Ever resourceful, he converted his pickup truck into a bus, offering his service as a bus driver to his community. This innovation became a testament to his practicality and deep sense of responsibility toward others.
A pillar in his community, Siagigi was actively involved in several congregation, including the Satala SDA Church in American Samoa, the Saleapaga SDA Church in Western Samoa, and the Samoan SDA Church in Utah. His steadfast commitment was highlighted by his roles as a Deacon, a leader in the Personal Ministry Department, and an Elder, positions he held with great pride and devotion.
Predeceased by his father, Maelega Eneliko Tupuola-Faumuina, and mother, Faleu Tuputalailoufofoga Leiataua. Siagigi is survived by his loving wife, 6 children and 16 grandchildren. His life exemplified a profound sense of duty, a strict yet loving fatherhood, and an unyielding commitment to faith.
Even in parting, Siagigi’s hope endured, that his children and grandchildren might embrace the divine adoration for God that shaped his life. As we bid farewell, we are comforted by the lasting impressions of his life’s journey, ever guided by the hand of the Lord he adored.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary. 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse. Friends may visit with family prior to services on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
