OGDEN‒We sadly announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Slade Eric Speechly, 47. He passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, peacefully in his sleep.
Slade was born June 17, 1975, to Steven S. and Diana Halverson Speechly. He grew up in the hills of Uintah Highlands where he spent his childhood biking, building forts, and hanging out until dark with his cherished neighborhood buddies.
Slade was an Eagle Scout and maintained the skills learned in the program. He was always prepared! He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1993 and from WSU in 2000 with a degree in Technical Sales. He held several great sales positions throughout Northern Utah and was a master at negotiation. He was well-written, well-spoken, and intelligent.
Slade's passions were hitting the powder at Snow Basin on his snowboard, fishing, music, cars, motorcycles, BMX bikes, anything vintage, camping, and collecting baseball cards. He was an avid Red Sox fan and "foodie." We will all miss his sense of humor and hilarious impersonations! Slade loved his family and his friends with all he had. Slade was always thinking of others and would stop to help strangers frequently. He was passionate and played hard. He loved to bend the rules and lived to the fullest. He thrived outdoors to explore trails and fishing holes. Slade loved to tell stories about his revered fishing trip to Montana with his cousin Brad Thornton.
Slade is survived by his parents; his sister, Maren Burnside and her children, Brock Burnside and Bailey Burnside (Jaden Teague); and the love of his life, Holly Frazier. Slade had a very special place in his heart for “The Boys”, Connor, Will, and Joe. Slade was preceded in death by many beloved family members that all impacted the person he was.
As we sat together as a family, choosing what to write, we are at a loss as how to summarize a life and love in a few paragraphs. We love you, Slade! We will miss you for the rest of our lives.
As per Slade's wishes, there will not be any services. His cremains will be spread above Snow Basin at a later date.
We would like to thank the many friends, family, and neighbors that have called to support the family at this difficult time.
Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
