Soelia “Hope” Talamantez Lewis

Soelia “Hope” Talamantez Lewis, our beautiful mother, grandmother and great grandmother has returned to the open arms of our Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center. She was born in Brackettville, Texas on August 8, 1938.

She moved to Shelley, Idaho when she was a child. As a teenager she met and married Terry Tyler. They moved to Kaysville, Utah and had five children together and were later divorced. She then married William Keith Lewis (later deceased) and had one child.

Hope was a strong and amazing woman who loved her family with all her heart and soul. She raised six children on her own. As an adult she went back to school and earned her High School Diploma from Davis High. Later, because of her love for children, she opened Hopes Daycare out of her home. She ran her daycare for over 25 years, where she positively impacted so many of those children’s lives. To her grandchildren, she was known as the Pizza Grandma. She was a member of the LDS church. Hope loved life, loved everyone and had a way of making everyone feel special. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her three sons and three daughters; Debra Tuck of Kaysville, UT; Marty (Shirley) Tyler of Logan, UT; Jayne Tyler of Plano, IL; Sue (Lynn) Prestgard of Layton, UT; Kevin (Wendy) Tyler of Logan, UT; Billy (Jon) Lewis of Holladay, UT.  She is also survived by her three brothers and one sister, Dick (Kim) Talamantez, Layton, UT; Yvonne (Murry) Pierce, Layton, UT; Roland Talamantez, Idaho Falls, ID; Larry Talamantez, Idaho Falls, ID. She has 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Babe and Mary Talamantez, her husband William K. Lewis, her brothers Bob, Homer, and Alfred; her sisters Gloria and Josie, and her two grandsons Michael and Phillip.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah.
