“Together Again”
On Wednesday, February 3, 2016 Dad came to take Mom home; he was ready for her to be with him again. Mom was born in Bernallillo, NM, on April 14, 1936 to Jose and Senovia Gabaldon. She met our Dad, Joe “Hoss” Rosas and married in Reno, NV. He passed away in 2004.
Mom never worked outside the home. She worked very hard raising her family. She always had a pot of beans and a stack of homemade tortillas waiting for whoever might stop in. Mom loved her Hallmark channel, Golden Girls, Frazier, and her big bag of Lays potato chips sharing only with her dog, little man.
She also enjoyed sewing, making dresses for her grandchildren, gardening, camping, deer hunting, and she loved spending time with her dog, visiting with family and shopping for many hours in one day. She always had to have a cup of coffee by her side. She had a warm and loving heart. She was the queen of giving nicknames to people she loved.
Sophie is survived by her four daughters, Laurie (Pete) Vigil, Patricia (Brian) Woodland, Nickie Rosas, and Josephine Rosas; her Baby Boy, Abie Rosas; granddaughter/daughter, Cassandra (Ben) Frias; grandson/son, Robert Martin; 13 grandbabies; 18 great-grandbabies; brothers and sisters, Ventura (Harold) Sandoval, Teresa (Henry) Medina, Margaret (Louie) Alarid, Rosie Medina, Rita Garcia, Ernie, Fred, Aurelio (Desma), Toby (Viola), Gilbert (Toni) Gabaldon; and many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
Sophie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Danny; grandson and great-grandson; and loving sister and brothers-in-law.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4050 S. 3900 W. West Haven. Friends may gather with the family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with cremation to follow.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Johnson, Mary, Anna Beth and many others; Dr. Wintle and staff; Encompass Camille, Karen, Kelly, and many others; South Ogden Post Acute Nikki (Fireball), Ashley (Sweet Pea), Tamara (Grasshopper) and Creighton mom’s crush and many others; McKay Dee’s staff; and IHC Hospice with their tender loving care of Mom.
