Spencer Carl Lawrence

WASHINGTON TERRACE a€" On Tuesday, March 24, 2009, Spencer Carl Lawrence passed away surrounded by his loving family at McKay-Dee Hospital.

Spencer was born September 26, 1927, in Richmond, Utah, the son of Gunnar Axel and Anna Anderson Lawrence. He was reared and educated in Cache Valley.

He married Melva Larsen on July 9, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. Following their marriage, Spencer and Melva moved to the Ogden area.

He worked for Utah Power and Light Company for more than 30 years.

After Spencer''s retirement, he and Melva traveled to many places in the United States. They particularly enjoyed watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports.

Spencer was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He taught the kids and grandkids how to fish and to appreciate camping in the great outdoors. Yellowstone Park, Grace, Idaho, and Alaska were some of his favorite places.

Spencer was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the Washington Terrace 3rd Ward. He held callings in the Young Men''s program and on the Boy Scout Committee.

Spencer is survived by a son, Kent (Jennifer) Lawrence, a daughter, Eileen (Andy) Wheatley, 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Melva, two sons, Craig and Kirk, sister Anna Mae, and brothers Raymond, Reed, and Melvin.

Spencer was a friend to many. He enjoyed meeting his buddies at his favorite eating places. He will be sorely missed by his friends as well as his family.

Our family would like to thank the McKay-Dee Hospital staff from the 3rd floor. The many kind doctors, nurses, and aides made his stays there comfortable. We would especially like to thank Lance for being so kind and helping us through the last two days with Dad.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Richmond City Cemetery.

Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 to 10 a.m.
