Stacey Campbell
OGDEN – Stacey Campbell was born in Tooele, Utah in 1954. She remained young in spirit and appearance all her life. She had fortitude and sparkle that kept her young and those who knew her felt happier just being with her. She fought cancer and won. She won three times. Three times she was given a discouraging diagnosis and three times she beat the odds and won. She did this through her tenacity, intelligence, and willingness to never give up. Throughout her 16 years of having the disease she continued to be active, enthusiastic and always a joy and fun to be with. During these 16 years she raised three children from pre-school age to teenagers and she did so with love, commitment and a joy for life. Stacey passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at her home in Ogden.
Stacey was the daughter of Marshall “Red” and Olive Grode’. She felt loved and appreciated by her parents and often talked about them fondly. She had twin brothers, Bruce (his wife Denise) Grode’ and Bryan Grode’ (daughters Madison and Amber) whom she adored and felt they were wonderful examples in her life. She always knew that her family loved her and wanted her to be happy. What a wonderful gift!
Stacey was married to Dale Campbell to the end of her life they did wonderful things together including golfing and other sports, traveling, going to community events, being on community boards and raising three beautiful and wonderful children. Stacey and Dale’s children, Richard, Kelly, and Markie, were the joy of her life. Having these children to raise answered her lifelong dream, to be a mother. She was so proud of her children and described them as “amazing”, “really great kids with good friends.” She was so proud of their accomplishments in school, sports and dancing and often said, “They are just really good and dear kids.” She appreciated Dale’s loving support to help her make this dream come true, to be a mother. She also had the opportunity to be a mother and grandmother to another family: Dale’s children and their children were very special to her. These include: Stacy (Campbell) and Dennis Martin, Cory and Andi Campbell and Jamie (Campbell) and Steve Pierce and 14 awesome grandchildren.
Stacey was blessed with many, many friends who adored her. People just gravitated to Stacey because they wanted to be with her for the quality she brought to their lives. She had a large circle of friends who were special and supportive of her. She traveled with these friends, went to many parties, sports and other events and celebrated life with them over and over again.
In 2006, Stacey took out her endowments in the Ogden Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She felt blessed, strengthened and honored to be able to do this. Her friends and supporters in the church made her life more meaningful and she valued the relationships and experiences this brought to her life.
Stacey was known for her glowing smile that she always had on her face, and her genuine interest in others. She was known to unselfishly ask others, “How are you doing?”, and “What is going on in your life?”. She was always more interested in others and in their difficulties more than her own.
Stacey had a passion for life and moral strength like no other. Maybe that is why she fought so hard for the years she gained. Stacey was unique. Our memories of her will leave a lifelong impression on those of us who were blessed to have her in our lives.
