Stanley Green passed away from natural causes January 3, 2008 at his home in Centerville, Utah. Stan was born July 19, 1924 in Kanesville, Utah to William Herman and Minnie Irene Parker Green. He attended school in Kanesville, Hooper and graduated from Weber High in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the 1st Infantry Division in Europe. He was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart medal. Following his military service he married Rita Ann Wilson on September 11, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple and attended the University of Utah, graduating in 1950 with a degree in civil engineering. He was employed by Chevron and then by the State of Utah in the Division of Water Rights until his retirement in 1987.
Dad was very talented and enjoyed many activities. He loved to paint, doing fine woodworking and music. He enjoyed traveling and loved western art. He moved to Centerville in 1955 and loved the town very much. He served on the city council for 12 years, including 5 years as the mayor. He also served on the Mosquito Abatement Board and the Davis County Board of Health. Overall, his service to the community spanned 38 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings including the stake high council. He enjoyed his many friends, especially those in the study group and dinner group.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rita Ann, whom he cared for for many years during her long illness. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William Herman Green Jr., his sister Roberta Wood and daughter-in-law Cynthia Green. He is survived by his children, David Green, Bountiful and Sandy; Gayle Green, Magna, and Anita Vickers (Bill), Centerville; along with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his sister, Luana Richards and her husband Lowell, Bountiful; and his sister-in-law, Nada Green, Seattle, WA; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday January 8, 2008 at the Centerville 6th Ward Chapel, 900 S. 400 E. Friends may call Monday January 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Tuesday January 8 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment Centerville Cemetery.
