Stanley Ray Groberg

FARR WEST a€" Stanley R Groberg, 85, passed away Tuesday evening as he wished; at home, at peace, surrounded by family and loved ones. Son of Charles A and Martha H Rasicot Groberg, he was born in Farr West on June 6, 1926. He graduated from Weber High School, and married his High School sweetheart Irene Grow on July 2, 1945. He served in the US Army during WWII, 6th Infantry Division in South Pacific and in the Army occupation of Korea. He drove semi-trucks from 1947 to 1953 to Alaska, hauling equipment used in the DEW line. He was also an auto mechanic and auto body repairman, and he sold everything from cars, furnaces, and travel trailers to mobile homes. He became an Insurance Agent, often called "Stan the Insurance Man", and retired from State Farm Insurance in 1995 after 41 years. His interests over the years have included: fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, bowling and watching "Wheel of Fortune". He was active in the LDS church, in various offices including ward clerk. Stan also volunteered at the Farr West Senior Center, calling bingo, where he often broke out in song.

Special thanks to his son Doug and his daughter-in-law Karen for their patience in taking such good care of dad for the last few years as his health declined. The family also gives special thanks to the hospice staff for their kind loving care in the final weeks before dad passed away.
