Stanley Robinson Liptrot

OGDEN a€" After living an active, productive life to the age of 90, Stanley Robinson Liptrot passed away of a heart attack on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Dad went out with his "boots on" doing what he loved... taking a scenic drive in the red Jeep Wagoneer.

Stanley was born on September 4, 1922, grew up in Ogden, Utah and graduated from Ogden High School. Dad then went to earn a degree in Refrigeration Engineering at the Weber Academy in Ogden.

He married Alberta Rich in the Logan LDS Temple in 1941. His Father, Oswald Liptrot, had Stanley''s U.S. Army induction papers in his pocket at the wedding, but waited until the wedding was over to present Stan with his draft notice. Dad enlisted and served in the Army Combat Engineers Corps during World War II. Active duty found him stationed in Australia, the Philippines, and New Guinea. He was happy to return home following the War and begin his life as a husband and a father.

Stanley and Alberta lived in Morgan where he worked raising sheep and chickens, they then moved to Brigham, and worked on a dairy farm, milking 91 head of cows each day. He worked as a refrigeration engineer at Swift and Co. for 23 years and as a boiler and refrigeration engineer for 22 years at HAFB. His many hobbies included: dancing, fishing, golfing, bowling, skiing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, leatherwork, crafts, and of course puzzles, one of his favorite pastimes. He was named the Harrison Regent "Puzzle Man" at the retirement home where he lived. He was also known as the man "that never met a stranger" according to all those who lived with him at Harrison Regent.

Dad was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions in the Harrison Regent Branch where he looked for opportunities to help others, another trait that described him. He was the neighborhood fix it man all of his life.

Stan and Alberta raised three boys, Michael (Lenda), Dennis, and Kevin Liptrot, all surviving. Stanley is also survived by a brother, Raymond; a sister-in-law, Aurdel; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Oswald; Mother, Elizabeth Ann Robinson; brother, Oswald, Elizabeth Ann Yates; and Mildred "Sally" Jensen, both sisters, and Arlene Liptrot, sister-in-law.

The family thanks the management and residence of the Harrison Regent Retirement Home in Ogden for making the last ten years of Dad''s life happy and productive. He loved you all, and he will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Ogden City.
