Stan was “called home” (as he would have said) in the early morning hours of Father’s Day—June 19, 2011.
Stan was born to Jesse Cole and Ross Norman Sears in Chico, California on October 21, 1939.
After leaving the family’s almond farm in Durham, Stan had a varied career. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Stan worked (among other things) as a police officer in New Mexico, a landscaper in California, and a civil servant at Hill Field Air Force Base.
Before he entered his final decline, Stan loved to fish, camp, and craft leather.
Stan is survived by his daughter, Shawna Groff (Steven), of Layton; his son, Rex (Stacie), of Salt Lake; several grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and his brother, John, of Durham, California.
Stan was preceded in death by two wives, Virginia and Margene (whose children became his by adoption), and one son, Donald.
Those who had the chance to care for Stan in his declining years always characterized him as a truly sweet man. He will be missed.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 27th at 1 p.m. at the Clearfield City Cemetery, 1050 S. State Street in Clearfield, Utah.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
