LAYTON - Stanley John Skidmore was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 4, 1947, to Helen Glauser and Arthur John Skidmore Jr. He passed away on October 9, 2010 in Layton, Utah.

Stan was an active person who loved all sports and the outdoors. He was an avid golfer and mountain biker. He also loved woodworking and created many beautiful things for his home and yard.

An electrical engineer by profession, he worked at Iomega Corp. for 20 years. He received his B.S. from the University of Utah and M.S. from the University of Santa Clara. He served in the Vietnam conflict as a naval officer. He served a mission in the Franco-Belgian Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1966-1968.

A dedicated volunteer, Stan tutored math students at the detention center in Roy.

Stan is survived by his wife, Kathleen McDonald, son, Jeremy (Jessica), daughter, Melinda Taylor (Jason), son, Brett (Brittany), daughter, Lindsay Hickman (Blaine), father, Arthur Skidmore Jr., sisters, Christi Heal (Robert), and Shelley Kendall (Michael), and his 11 grandchildren, the joys of his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Helen Glauser Skidmore.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. at the Summerhaze LDS Ward Chapel, 280 S. Fairfield Rd., Layton, UT. Friends may visit family on Tuesday, Oct. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 prior to services at the church.

Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 "N" Street.
