Stella Milito Yates

Stella M. Yates, 90, passed away surrounded by her children on October 6, 2013. She was born on December 13, 1922 in Ogden, Utah, to Louis and Clara Mallame Milito. She met the love of her life, Ray Yates, and they were married on January 30, 1943 by Harmon W. Peery, the Mayor of Ogden.

Mom was a kind and loving mother, her family always coming first. She was industrious, happy, and sang while she worked. She loved the color red, and especially enjoyed red roses. Her family enjoyed the Italian foods she made for holidays.

Stella loved making afghans, dolls, quilts, and other handiwork, which she shared generously. She worked at Defense Depot of Ogden, retiring in 1974. Stella and Ray enjoyed square dancing, camping with their children, traveling, and spending the winter months in Yuma, Arizona for ten years.

Stella is survived by her children, Raylene (Ross) Western, Ogden; Sharlene (Mick) Freund, Colorado; Terry (Tammy) Yates, Ogden; and Valerie (Greg). Also surviving are a special niece, Stella; two nephews; 10 grandchildren, Loralee, Jesse, Jenalee, Tamara, Sandra, Cassi, Tara, Austin, Ashlee, and Andrea; and 20 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; grandparents who raised her; parents, three brothers, Ralph, Arthur, and her twin brother, Orland; as well as her sister, Lena; grandson, Elijah; and great-grandson, Jacob.

Honoring her request, private services were held. Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
