CENTERVILLE, UTAH- Stephen Jay Larsen, passed away November 30th 2019. He was born on February 9th, 1948 to Jay and Doris Larsen.
Stephen married Catherine Hatch together they had two children, Troy (Sue) Larsen and Matt (Promise) Larsen. They were later divorced. After graduating from high school, he enjoyed many years working as a lineman for many different companies before retiring from Utah Power and Light.
Steve enjoyed owning and training racehorses as well as being a member of Beehive and Wasatch Slopes Chariot Racing Associations. He trained many winners but his prize possession was KONO. He cherished the friendships that he made through horse racing. We would also like to thank all his friends whom he made lasting memories with over coffee and lunch. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandsons Dalton and Logan pitch in high school and college.
Steve is survived by his two sons and grandchildren, Brady Larsen, Dalton Larsen, Logan Larsen, Taleea Fuit, Falon Valdez, seven great-grandchildren and sister, Peggy Ellis. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
Instead of flowers Steve would want you to attend the horse races this summer and continue to support the horse racing industry.
