Sterling Craig Wilde 02/10/52 ~ 01/08/08 Craig passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 after a long & courageous battle with cancer. Born February 10, 1952 in Provo to Sterling Wilde & Colleen Carter Wilde. Craig graduated in 1970 with the 1st class to go through Layton High School. He joined the Air Force in 1971 to serve during the Vietnam Era. He married and had three children: Natalie, Craig Jr., and Matthew. After completing his tour in the Air Force, he returned to Layton and began work at Hill AFB as pattern maker. Craig joined the Navy Reserves in 1976 serving as a Seabee. He reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and was honorably discharged in 1998 after 22 years of service. He continued to work at Hill AFB while attending Weber State UNV, where he received an Associate''s Degree. Craig also attended specialty schools for his position at Hill a€" where in 1989 he met his sweetheart, Rosie. They married in June 1991 and added to his brood four stepchildren: ManDee, Matt, Koby & Kassi. They lived in Layton, UT until 2003, at which point Craig and Rosie moved to Tremonton, UT. In 2005, they moved to Plain City, UT and recently adopted their Springer Spaniel, Sam. Craig continued to work at Hill AFB until finally retiring, after 35 years, in October of 2007. Craig could fix just about anything and if you needed help with any odds and ends, he was the first to offer. Craig was an unselfish, caring and hardworking man who always put his family first. He was an amazing woodworker and spent countless hours working in his garage. Craig believed in working hard, but always saved a little time for fun. He enjoyed camping in his 5th wheel, shooting one his many guns, hunting, riding his four-wheeler and sitting around with his family and friends. Craig is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Rosie and children: Natalie Wilde of Roy UT, Craig Wilde, Jr. (Dr. Lindsey Eisler) of Minneapolis MN, Amanda (Jared) Brown of Malad ID, Matthew (Amanda) Wilde of Roy UT, Matthew Montoya of Ogden UT, Koby Harris of Roy UT, Kassi Harris of Salt Lake UT and 10 grandkids. Also surviving are his mother: Colleen Wilde of Layton UT. Sisters: Sheila Wilde of Las Vegas NV, Connie Blandi of Clearfield UT, and in-laws: Chris & Norma Montoya of Ogden UT, John & Helen Singh of Brigham City UT and countless other close family and friends. Craig is preceded in death by his father, Sterling Wilde and brother, Paul Wilde. Craig was greatly admired and loved by all who met him. His legacy can be defined by his unselfishness, caring, honest, responsible, hardworking and courageous demeanor. We will cherish him always and he will live in our hearts forever. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, where military honors will be accorded. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name at America First Credit Union. A heartfelt thanks goes out to the wonderful and caring doctors, nurses and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
