SYRACUSE a€" Steven Richard Barnes, 20, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008. He was born April 14, 1987 in Layton, Utah, the son of Richard and Debbie Barnes.

He was a happy child and loved to laugh, even in his sleep. He loved scouting and earned his Eagle Scout at the age of 14. Steven attended Clearfield High.

He loved video games, playing the guitar, music, swimming in his pool, traveling, skateboarding and snowboarding. He enjoyed traveling to such places as Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, and throughout the United States. While traveling, he loved snorkeling and surfing. His favorite thing to do was hang out with his friends. He especially loved his nephew and niece.

Steven is survived by his parents, Richard and Debbie (Kurill) Barnes; his sister, Daisy (Kelsey) Hall; his nephew, Lukas; his niece, Scarlette; his grandmother, Hazel Barnes; and numerous family members who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse Third Ward, 1000 W. 2700 S., Syracuse, UT. Friends and family may call Sunday, January 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.

Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery following the services. There will be a wake for friends at 6 p.m. that evening, location to be announced.
