Steven Clifford “Papa”

Steve left this earthly realm on March 21, 2023. On March 6, 1949 Harold Vaughn and Dorothy Darlene (Jones) Clifford welcomed their oldest son into this world at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. Steve graduated from Clearfield High School in 1967. After graduating he decided he wanted to serve his country by joining the United States Navy in 1968 and served proudly for four years. Steve spent the last 20 plus years working for the IRS which he retired from. 

Steve loved music and learned to play the guitar, mandolin, and the banjo. He loved classic cars attending car shows and even owning a few of his own.

Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles and had a real passion for bowling. He loved to tell stories and to laugh.

Even though Steve didn't have any children of his own he was a very loving and caring bonus dad.

In 1998 he met and fell in love with Cathy they married June 17, 1998. 

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; children, Bart (Keeley) Erickson of Conroe, TX; Christa Wayman of Brigham City, UT; Geoffery (Evelyn) Choate and Elizabeth (Sam) Greene both of Ogden, UT; sister, Claudia(Rick) Brown of Fernley, NV and brother, Alan Clifford of Roy, UT. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Scott Rowe.

To know Papa Steve was to love him. 

Fly high your wings were ready but our hearts were not.

We will be holding a celebration of life in Steve's honor after the weather warms up.

Friends may visit with family on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. with military honors at 6:30 p.m.
