Steven Koga, 59, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015.  He was born on August 2, 1955 in Ogden to Tatsuo and Sumiko Kido Koga.  He graduated from Weber High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Weber State College and his CPA credentials.  He later graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters of Business Administration.

Steve had a passion for knowledge related to Japanese American History and was active in the Japanese America community.  As a result he became highly involved in the developments surrounding the Topaz Museum in Delta, Utah, serving as treasurer of the board.  His greatest pleasure was in sharing his knowledge to students and civic groups by engaging them in discussion about the topic of internment.  He also served as treasurer of the Men’s Beehive Golf League and was an active member of the Buddhist Church of Ogden and the Denver Buddhist Temple.

Steve is survived by his siblings, Glen (Colleen) Koga, Roy, UT; Sharon Koga, Inglewood, CA; Dean Koga (Curt Johnson) Seattle, WA; Gene (Vikki) Koga, Naples, FL; Brenda Koga, Salt Lake, UT; Maya (Chuck) Chow, Bountiful, UT; and LaVerne (Ernie) Kyed, Layton, UT; nieces and nephews; Keith Chow, Samantha Chow, Aimee Kyed, Andrew Kyed and John Koga and his true companion Donna Inouye.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Earl.

Special thanks to the staff of Huntsman Cancer Institute, especially Drs. Buchmann, Grossmann and Hunt and staff of Intermountain Homecare and Hospice’s Palliative Care in Ogden-- Lissa and Mike.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 12 p.m. at the Ogden Buddhist Temple, 155 North St.  Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the temple.  A Memorial service will be held at a later date at the Denver Buddhist Temple. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
