STEVEN MILLER
Steven Carl Miller, the ultimate host, died peacefully Thursday afternoon in his sleep. He was 56 years old and lived in Bountiful, Utah.
Steven was born January 15, 1952 in Sacramento. He graduated from Hiram Johnson High School in Sacramento in 1969 and from the prestigious California Culinary Academy in San Francisco in 1999.
Family connections were important to Steven. Steven was the father of three beautiful daughters whom he fiercely loved. He was so proud of his girls, and was blessed to have spent the last days of his life with them and his father.
As an adult, Steven lived in California and Utah. He and his brothers lived only miles from one another and they visited frequently. On August 11, 2007, Steven married his love and best friend, Mary Laseski Hancock. Their marriage was short, but full of laughter and joy, shared with their puppies, Max and Jack.
Steven was a talented chef. Family, friends, neighbors and coworkers frequently recruited him for their parties, and he happily obliged. More importantly, Steven taught us about generosity and sharing. He gave with his whole heart. He gave without complaint. He gave, never expecting anything in return, which is his legacy.
Steven is survived by his wife Mary Miller, Bountiful; his daughters, Erica Kiene (husband Chris Kiene), Sacramento, Capri Miller, Sacramento, and Phallon Miller, Sacramento; his brothers, Jack Wayne Miller (wife Marcia Miller), Centerville, UT, and Calvin Miller (Linda Burke), Centerville; Larry Frith, Carmichael, CA (wife Lynn Frith); father J.D. Frith, Sacramento; grandsons, Jackson and Preston Kiene, Sacramento. He is preceded in death by Claribel Prestley Frith, his mother.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am Thursday January 8 at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 276 E. 1700 S., Bountiful. Friends may call Wednesday January 7, 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. A committal ceremony will be held 11 am Friday January 9 at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 4th Avenue and T Street, Salt Lake City.
