Steven W. Sandall
PLAIN CITY – Steven William Sandall, 61, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 29, 1947, in Tremonton, Utah, a son of William Andrew and Helen “Bob” Mantlo Sandall. In 1965, he graduated from Bear River High School.
He was married to Nancy Costley from 1967 to 1990. Steve and Nancy settled in Plain City, Utah where they raised their three children.
He worked at Defense Depot Ogden for many years. After taking an early retirement, he worked at Parker Hannifin and L-3 Communications.
Steven’s first love was racing quarter horses. He loved both flat track and cutter racing. He also loved the outdoors – fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed his time coaching and influenced many youth through little league football and baseball.
Steve had many great friends throughout his life. His family is grateful to the many friends who generously helped him and encouraged him through his battle with cancer. He was loved by his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by both friends and family.
He is survived by three children: Shanna (Aaron) Barker, Kaysville, UT; Stuart (Holly) Sandall, Twin Falls, ID; Shane (Natalie) Sandall, Meridian, ID; and 9, soon to be 10, grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Cheryle (Maurice) Webb, Snowflake, AZ; and a brother, Dee (Nita) Sandall, Mesa, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Sandall.
His family would like to thank the caring doctors and nurses at McKay-Dee Hospital for their kindness, friendship and loving care of their father.
Steve will be laid to rest in the Tremonton City Cemetery.
