Steven Louis Wood
Steven Louis Wood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at age 80, Monday, February 15, 2010 of heart failure.
He was born August 12, 1929 in Farmington, Utah son of William A. Wood and Minnie Louise Hess. He graduated from Davis High in 1948 and was a life-long resident of Farmington.
Steven married Dorthy Moss in 1948. She preceded him in death in 1974. He married Barbara Pepper on December 16, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He retired from UNYSIS in 1987 and was a part-time rock mason.
He liked gardening, raising livestock, feeding the wild birds, fly fishing, camping, hunting, cooking, classical music and opera.
There was a compassion Steve had for those who needed help, from bringing in dinner to making others laugh. His unique acts of kindness touched others life’s. His efforts were extended to all, especially those who could not get out on their own. He did this all of his life.
Surviving are his wife Barbara J. Wood, sons, Steven (Debra) Wood, David (Judith) Wood, Douglas (Teresa) Wood, brothers, Robert Wood and Tom Wood, sister, Oneita Smith, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife Dorthy Wood, son, Jerry Wood, brothers, Wayne Mayfield, Vernon Mayfield and William Wood.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
