STEWART CAL WHITESIDES

Stewart Cal Whitesides returned to his Heavenly Father on August 9, 2018 at the age of 85.  He was born in Ogden, Utah on September 27, 1932 to Ferris Ute and Alice Mae Whitesides.  He was the only boy and very spoiled.  He graduated from Davis High School.

He was raised on Whitesides Street in Layton, Utah where he enjoyed riding his horses and causing mischief.  As a teenager he enjoyed racing cars with his friends at night through Layton.  He was full of energy and loved playing with his nieces, nephews, and neighborhood kids.  He loved to go antelope hunting with his dad in Wyoming.  Later in life he loved to hunt with his grandkids and tell them stories.

Cal was drafted into the Army in 1953 due to the Korean War where he served for 2 years in Germany.  After returning home he met Kathleen Christiansen who he married.  They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 14, 1956.  They had two kids Christian Stewart Whitesides and Shawn Ute Whitesides.  Kathleen Passed away in 1982.  He married Elaine Taylor in 1983.  They were sealed in the Ogden Temple on January 6, 2001. She passed away in 2002.

In 1957 upon the death of his father, Cal took over the family business, Whitesides Plumbing.  He ran a successful business with the love from all his customers who just loved the way he took care of them.  He was a very hard worker and never missed a day of work.  He retired in 2011.  He was missed very much by all his clients.  His work can be found in many homes throughout Davis County with his name and date written on many water heaters.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in many different callings.  The one he loved most was being a Primary teacher.

Cal loved cars.  His favorite thing was going to car shows.  He loved making his cars and work trucks into hot rods.  He loved driving fast which got him into trouble with the local police on several occasions.  The final years of his life he loved to hang out with his grandkids and going to Farr’s ice cream.  He loved classic country music and John Wayne.  He loved to watch the Jazz games.

He is survived by his son; Christian (Bonnie), Morgan, UT; daughter-in-law Denise Whitesides, Ogden, UT;  sister Rosalie (Larry) Wood, Bountiful, UT.  He has eight grandkids, eleven great-grandkids, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Kathleen and Elaine, son Shawn Whitesides, and oldest sister Charlotte Beck.
