On October 9th 2019, the world became a little colder, and lost another source of warmth,
kindness, love, compassion and humor. On that day, Sudie Bob Whitlock (Bobbie Sue) quietly
passed away from complications associated with Alzheimer’s. She leaves behind her four sons,
Richard (Anna), Robert (Brit), Randy (Jenny), Russell (Carri-an), 14 grandchildren and 10 great-
grandchildren.
Sudie was a proud native of Ft Worth Texas, born on February 23, 1938, the youngest of six
daughters and one son to Clarence and Flora (Helms) Moore. She attended North Side High
School where she met her future husband, Charles Whitlock. They were married on August 31,
1956, and soon began a journey together of Christian ministry and service that lasted nearly 60
years. Together they pastored Southern Baptist Churches in Knapp, Lueders and Roby Texas,
Fairmont and Charleston West Virginia. They worked as missionaries and church planters in
West Virginia, and Director of Missions for Summit Baptist Association in Ohio. They retired
from the ministry more than once, but continued the Lord’s work throughout their retirement.
Sudie was a devoted minister’s wife, missionary, care giver, mother, grandmother “Granny”,
great-grandmother, Bible teacher and friend to many. Sudie had a pleasant and caring greeting
for everyone she met. She also had a sense of humor that will continue to entertain those of us
lucky enough to have known her. Sudie had a beautiful singing voice and was not at all shy about sharing it. She sang in church choirs from an early age, and often sang duets during the years in the ministry. Even as dementia/Alzheimer took her short-term memory she could sing gospel songs, Sinatra, and others when she heard the tune playing. Even during her final days she still managed to word her favorite hymns.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents; her sisters; Polly, Pony,
Janie, Louetta, Mary-Tom, and her brother CE. She is survived by her four sons, 2 sisters-in-
law, one brother in law, numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment will be held at a future date (to be determined) at Mt. Olivet in Fort Worth, Texas.
Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
