Our dear mother Susan G (Holt) Lake passed away on July 18, 2024, at the age of eighty. She was a loving and devoted wife and a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.
Susan was born on July 31, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alfred Howard Holt and Velma Holt. She attended High school in Kansas City Missouri, where she also trained to be an x-ray technician. While in Kansas City, she met Dee Lake, a handsome young soldier from Utah. She eventually gave in to his many proposals and married him in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 13, 1964, and together they created a love story that their children will always cherish.
Susan was the heart of our home and family. She was married for 60 years to her soulmate, Dee, who preceded her in death. Together they raised three children, Tonya McDonald, (Travis), Michael Dee Lake, (Donna), and Jennifer S. Miller, (Shane), in a happy and loving home. Susan dearly loved her eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren and was always ready to spoil them rotten.
Susan loved crafting, sewing, riding motorcycles, camping, hunting, and fishing with her family. She continued her passion of working in the medical field and had a long and very fulfilling career at Wee Care Pediatrics of which she was extremely proud.
A longtime resident of Layton, she was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Dee J Lake, her father, Howard Holt, mother, Velma Holt, and brother Howard Gary Holt.
Susan was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends. Her radiant spirit will always be carried in the hearts oft those who loved her.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the loving and compassionate care given to Susan from the Inspiration Hospice team and the assisted living staff of Fairfield Village.
The family invites all who loved Susan to join them in a celebration of her life on Tuesday July 30, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 Fairfield Road, Layton Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary.
