Susan D. McPeck
SOUTH OGDEN – Susan Degn McPeck, 62, died Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at her home peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Sue was born February 12, 1945 in Murray, Utah, a daughter of Victor Emmanuel and Alma Wallace Degn. She was raised in California, Brigham City, Ogden, South Ogden, and Silver Spring, MD. She attended Bonneville High School and graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD.
On August 13, 1971, Sue married the love of her life, Daniel Edward McPeck, in Rockville, MD. They moved to South Ogden in 1973 where they raised their three children: Amanda McPeck (Shane Cutler), Salt Lake City; Marisa (Casey) Stringham, South Ogden; and Victor McPeck, South Ogden.
Sue was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the Uintah 3rd and Highland Wards. She served a Relief Society Chorister, Ward Chorister, and most recently as Ward Librarian.
She worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. in the foreign training division for 10 years. She also worked at Hill Air Force Base as a secretary for 10 years. Sue spent the past 17 years working as a Deputy Court Clerk for the Second District Court in Ogden and Layton.
Sue had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. She loved to make up silly songs and phrases. Everyone who knew her was touched by her warm spirit and friendliness. An avid reader, Sue was never without a book or two. She had the distinct ability to recall numerous facts and her favorite books were the dictionary and atlas. Sue was extremely loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, her children, four grandchildren: Michael and Eli Cutler, and Reilley and Cole Stringham, two brothers, David Degn, South Ogden, and Bill (Carla) Degn, Pahoa, HI, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank IHC Hospice, the entire staff of the Medical/Oncology Dept. of McKay-Dee Hospital, and Dr. Vincent Hansen, for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
