Susan Eileen Stimpson

June 2, 1948 – May 21, 2017

Our beautiful wife and mother, Susan Eileen Stimpson, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017, surrounded by her husband, son, and daughter-in-law.

Susan was born June 2, 1948, to Paul and Gladys Bouhwuis in Ogden, Utah. She grew up in West Haven, Utah with her parents and two sisters.

Susan was an avid lover of history. She went to Weber High School, and later graduated from Weber State College with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Susan married her sweetheart Gary on May 15, 1970, recently celebrating their 47th anniversary.

In 1992, the pair received their greatest blessing, their son, Ryan; the three were sealed to each other in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. In addition to being a beloved wife and mother, Susan was fulfilled through her career and faith. She dedicated 34 years to the IRS, in Ogden, as a tax examiner and instructor. She spent much of her career traveling the United States training others.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.

Susan was a lover of dogs, literature, and the theater, which she attended over the years with her devoted friends Rutha Raught and Carol McFarland. She had a great talent for needlework and crocheting, and shared those talents with her family.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Gladys Bouhwuis. She is survived by her husband, Gary; their children: Ryan and Kayla Stimpson; sisters: Yvonne Bouhwuis and Paula Gregory (Stephen); nephew, Hyrum Gregory; and mother-in-law Margaret Stimpson Child.

The family would like express special thanks to the staff at Lotus Park Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, West Haven Cemetery.
