Susan Carol Silk Wright

November 18, 1946 ~ September 20, 2017

Susan Carol Silk Wright, 70, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. She was born on November 18, 1946, in South Gate, California, the daughter of Albert and Betty Louise Sack Silk.

She grew up in South Gate and moved to Provo, Utah when she was 18 to attend Brigham Young University. While there, she met Gerald Weston Wright. They were married on August 24, 1965, in the Oakland California LDS Temple.

Susan earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and taught for more than 20 years at Roy Elementary School before retiring in 2008.

Susan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings in Relief Society and Primary. She especially enjoyed serving as a music leader in the ward and for youth at the observation and assessment facility in North Ogden.

Susan enjoyed art, music (especially the Marimba), cooking, dancing, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling.

Susan is survived by her husband, Gerald Wright, Ogden; children, Kenneth Gerald (Christi) Wright, Layton, Jeffrey Allen (Meredith) Wright; Highlands Ranch, CO; Amy Sue Wright (Stephan) Filiaga, Pleasant View; and Jonathan David (Michelle) Wright, Ogden; 11 grandchildren; and sister, Lois L. Silk. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Betty Silk.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family thanks the amazing doctors and staff at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake for their incredible care.
