Suzanne Merrill Baxter

Suzanne Baxter LAYTON – Suzanne Merrill Baxter, 27, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 from complications of Ovarian cancer, a disease she battled courageously for nearly five years. Suzanne, “Suzi,” was born February 25, 1982 in South Ogden, Utah to Michael W. Merrill and Annalene “Pepper” Merrill. In kindergarten, she moved to Liberty Lake, Washington where she loved a new life of living near a lake. When she was a junior in high school, she moved to Missoula, Montana and graduated from Big Sky High School in 2000. For the next two years, she attended Ricks College/BYU Idaho where she obtained her Associates Degree in the Arts and Sciences. In 2002, she moved to Ogden, Utah. She worked as a CNA at Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehab for two years. She met the love of her life, Jacob Kelly Baxter, on October 19, 2002, while hiking to the Mt. Timpanogos caves. Following a beautiful and fun-loving year, the two were married October 17, 2003 in the Bountiful Utah Temple. On October 20, 2004, almost a year to the day later, they welcomed their precious angel baby, Natalie. Suzanne is survived by her husband Jake and their daughter, Natalie, Layton; her parents, Michael and Pepper Merrill, South Weber, brother, Matthew (Hollie) Merrill and their four children, Shiprock, New Mexico. She is also survived by countless other in-laws, cousins and family members. Preceded in death by her Merrill and Sorensen grandparents and Lorna Hansen, a great-grandmother. Suzi’s sense of humor and love of life enriched all those she knew. Regardless of the situation, she always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She died at home and wishes to thank VistaCare Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
