Sybil Mary Doxey Olsen

Sybil Mary Doxey Olsen, 92, passed away December 6, 2011 in her son''s home while surrounded by her family.

She was born January 6, 1919 in Springville, UT to Dr. George Rhodes and Chloe Adele Wood Doxey. She attended Ogden High School and graduated in 1937. She then studied education at Weber College and graduated from Utah State University in 1940. She retired from teaching elementary students in 1983, following 42 years in the Ogden School District. She loved teaching 4th grade Utah history.

Sybil was married to the love of her life, Carl Frank Olsen, Sr., on June 27, 1941. They enjoyed traveling until their son Carl, the joy of their life, was born in 1956. The three of them enjoyed many fun times for the next 17 years.

She spent the rest of her years working in her garden, spending time with her family, and participating in many clubs and organizations. She loved to spend her time supporting her family in their occupations and interests. Many miles were put on her car driving through construction projects that her son and grandson were working on.

Sybil shared her life with Earl Steed from 1987 to 1994. She and her family were also blessed to have Harold Badger in their lives from 1998 to 2006.

She is survived by her son, Carl (Deanne) Olsen, South Ogden, UT; and their four children: Chris (Ashley) Olsen, North Ogden, UT; Amy (Cody) Anderson, Marriott-Slaterville, UT; Tami (Alex) Rich, South Ogden, UT; and Heather (Dan) McEntire, Roy, UT; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
