SOUTH OGDEN a€" Sylvester Moriancumer Dalebout, 98 years of age, completed his mortal probation on Saturday, December 20, 2008 as he passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Sylvester was born on April 13, 1910 in Ogden, a son of Martin and Adriana Dalebout. He was raised and educated in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School where he was active in ROTC.

He married his sweetheart, Edna Van Limburg, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 24, 1934. They recently marked their 74th Anniversary.

Sylvester and Edna have been residents of South Ogden since 1949 and were active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 22nd, 38th and 65th Wards of South Ogden. Sylvester was a faithful member and fulfilled a mission to the Netherlands. He served as a member of the bishopric of the South Ogden 22nd and 38th ward bishoprics. He also served as a veil worker at the Salt Lake and Ogden temples.

In 1974, upon completion of 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service, Sylvester retired with a disability retirement. Sylvester worked tirelessly to provide for his family even though he had extremely poor vision.

Although he was challenged visually, he loved to study and learn. He not only spoke English and Dutch, but in his later life took great pleasure in learning Spanish.

Surviving are his wife Edna, South Ogden; three sons, David (Karen), Dennis (Jean), and Mark (Dorothy). They have 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. His children and grandchildren will treasure his example of loving kindness and will long remember the enjoyment of our traditional Family Nights on Mondays.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Clint Wayment of the South Ogden 6th Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 a€" 36th Street.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and personnel of Intermountain Homecare and Hospice for their kind and loving help during these last months.
