Sylvia B. Lynch
The Lord is My Shepherd
Our dear mother and grandmother went home to the Lord, Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at age 70. Sylvia was born March 6, 1940, to Martha Dryden Wingate. She was adopted by Hugh Tucker Brooks when she was two. She graduated from Sarasota High School in Florida in 1958 and from Manatee Junior College in 1960 with an Associates of Arts Degree. She continued her education through her life at Weber State and her work at Hill AFB.
Sylvia retired after 30 years of Federal Service starting at IRS and Hill AFB. She served in Base Contracting, the Hill AFB Hospital and with the purchasing system in MAPA and F16. Besides her grandchildren, our Mom loved the air shows and never complained about the noise of freedom.
Sylvia married F. Pat Lynch in Sarasota, Florida, in October, 1961. They divorced in 1988 and remained friends. They had four children, Brandi Anne Lynch, Key West, FL: Teri Stanger (James), Tampa, FL; Wayne Lynch, Clearfield, UT; and John Lynch (Mary) Lynch, FL. There are six grandchildren: Jordan and Austin Lynch, Jimmy and Theresa Maylei Stanger, Brooks and Madison Lynch and one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Kischuk.
Sylvia is survived by two brothers, Hugh Brooks (Suzanne) and Steven Brooks (Judy) of Bradenton, FL; two sisters, Rita Steele (John) and Barbara Parker (Robert) of Sarasota, FL; two nieces, Donna Steele and Ashley Brooks and one nephew, Alex Steele.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Heights Baptist Church, 1770 E. 6200 So., So. Ogden. Friends and family call Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
