Sylvia Jo Winter passed away Friday, June 7, 2013. She was born on January 23, 1938, in Dallas, Oregon, to Viola and Harry Reiswig. She grew up loving the coast of Oregon. On November 27, 1954 she married Johnnie B. Winter. The two of them started their family while stationed in Hawaii serving in the United States Navy. They moved from Hawaii, back to Oregon, to Idaho, then to California, to Utah, on to Washington, and then finally settled in Clearfield, Utah. She was always up for an adventure. If you were a friend, family member, neighbor, or colleague of Sylvia''s, you remember her for her amazing recipes and cooking. She expressed her love and support to others'' through her food. Her Thanksgiving rolls are famous, her pies are sinfully delicious, and her German recipes carry a family heritage and tradition that will not be forgotten. She always remembered what you liked and knew just when to make it for you. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and caring for her grandchildren. She loved supporting St. Jude''s Hospital with a variety of fund-raising activities. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Johnnie B. Winter, Clearfield, Utah; her four sons and their wives, Gordon and Clarisa Winter, Spanaway, Washington; John and Anne-Marie Winter, Clinton, Utah; Joe and Shelly Winter, Kaysville, Utah; and Drake and Kris Winter, Syracuse, Utah; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her older brother Roland Reiswig, and younger sisters Vickie Marchant and Kelly Gebler. Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Harry Reiswig; her mother, Viola Reiswig; her step-sister, Lori Martin; and her great-grandson, Tayson McPhie. A celebration of her life will be held at the Veteran''s Park, 1000 West 1800 North, Clinton, Utah, on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated.
