Tadahisa Hebo Kawaguchi

Tad passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, peacefully at his home with his family. He was born on October 21, 1931, to Chuichi and Ryu Nakano Kawaguchi in Ogden, Utah. 

He graduated from Ogden High School Class of “49”, attended Weber State College, and then enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 during the Korean War, stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington. 

Tad married his high school classmate, Judie Hattori, in 1952. 

After four years of service in 1955, he was honorably discharged and went to work for the US Forest Service in Ogden, Utah, as a photographer. In 1976, he was transferred to the US Department of Agriculture to the photo lab in Salt Lake City. He retired from Government service in 1982. 

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and bowling with his best friend “Biff” Yei. In his later years he enjoyed going to Mesquite, NV. The New York Yankees were his favorite team. Tad also spent countless hours with his grandsons, Max and Sam, building model trains.

Tad is survived by his wife, Judie; daughter, Kristin (Matt) Shuman; grandsons, Max and Sam; brother-in-law, Tom (Kim) Hattori; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and two sisters, Toshiko Kawaguchi and Masaye Hattori. 

The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to Dr. T. Sharman Sutherland and his staff for their many years of caring for Tad. The family is so grateful for Intermountain Home Care Hospice team for their assistance during this difficult time. Special thanks to Amber for her special care and support to our family. Also thank you to Heidi, Tiffany, Courtney, and Vada for your support. 

A memorial gathering where friends may visit with family will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington as Tad requested no formal services or Koden. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.

The family also requests no Koden or flowers. Please make a donation to your favorite charity in Tad’s name.
