On July 16, 2021, our courageous son and brother, J.Tanner Jones, lost his battle with drug addiction.
Tanner was born November 16, 1990 and grew up in Hooper, Utah. He loved running the familiar neighborhoods with cousins and friends. As a young child, Tanner was filled with a deep curiosity and a great sense of humor. He was loving, determined, mischievous, and sometimes accident prone. Tanner loved all music and sharing his talent with others while strumming on the guitar. He was creative, and enjoyed sketching with a pencil. Tanner loved riding his dirt bike, and BMX bike with friends who became like family. Tanner was far braver than his two older brothers.
Tanner graduated from Fremont High School in 2009. He was really proud of the work he did as a heavy equipment operator.
The reality of Tanner’s death is devastating to all who knew him. His death felt sudden, but really he suffered for years from the disease of drug addiction. We never felt embarrassed by his addiction, we were nothing less than proud of his fight and in awe of his determination to recover. Fly high sweetheart, until we see you again.
Tanner was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gail Jones, and uncle, Greg Jones. Also his grandmother, Reva Beezer, good friend and uncles, Kevin Widdison and Jed Mayfield, and cousin, Cameron Tice.
Tanner is survived by his loving mother and father, Karen (David) Brandon, Scott (Julie) Jones; grandparents, Jim (MaryAnn) Widdison, and Diane Jones; brothers, Tyler (Amanda) Jones, Kyle (Kassi) Jones; and stepbrothers, Kelton and Trevor Brandon. Tanner had four nephews and one niece whom he adored, Gage, Saylor, Grady, Jameson, and Kelton.
His family would like to give a special thanks to Active Recovery, for their love and care of Tanner in the last months of his life. Also, a thanks to Renaissance Ranch, for their compassionate care.
